As part of ongoing efforts by the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to improve access to portable water supply across the metropolis,the mayor of Tamale, Hon.Alhaji Abu Takoro yesterday, 18th June,2026 commissioned 5 out of 10 mechanised high yielding boreholes constructed in selected communities.
At separate but colorful ceremonies ,the beneficiary communities, namely Salamba, Gumbihini, Sabonjida, Bilpiela and Nalong could not hide their joy.
They were however directed to constitute facility management committees with clearly defined modalities.
Meanwhile 5 other facilities will be commissioned for use at a later date yet tobe announced
In his remarks, Hon.Abu Takoro noted that this intervention though stopgap measure is in fulfilment of government’s promise of addressing the acute water shortage in the metropolis. The mayor hinted a bigger and more sustainable water project that has the huge capacity to end water crises in all target towns and cities.
